LEADERS IN FOOTBALL

Overview

LEADERS

The brainchild of James Worrall, Founder & CEO of Executive Sport Ltd, Leaders in Football was formed in 2007 after identifying a void in the football business industry for a premium event that brought together the most important leaders from world football and sports.

Founded during a period of an ever-increasing number of conferences within the sports industry, close consultation with many influential industry executives confirmed the need for a unique communication platform to voice their opinions on how the business of football should be governed for the better. Leaders in Football was created to provide a networking environment in order to bring together football’s most important leaders to share knowledge, best practice and ideas.

Leaders in Football was officially opened by Sir Dave Richards, Chairman, The Premier League on the 7th October 2008. The event was a huge success bringing together 1000 senior executives from every continent and generated unrivalled media coverage with football’s finances dominating the headlines. Sessions were diversified to incorporate some of the most important decision-makers within the game including, Players, Referees, Chairmen, FIFA and UEFA members, all sharing their vision for the future of the game, and what ideas should be applied for the good of the game.

The 2012 summit discussed a range of topics that have remained high on the game’s agenda since, from integrity and governance, to simulation and on-field action, commercial strategy, broadcasting and of course preparations for the next World Cup. And it was the tournament’s leading ever goalscorer, Brazilian legend Ronaldo, who opened the conference.
