Betfair founder races to the debate about betting and racing

Edward Wray, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Betfair group, will be speaking at Leaders in Racing, the new and exclusive conference for the international business of horseracing taking place in London on 6th October 2011.

Wray co-founded the Betfair Group in 2000 with Andrew Black, and was Chief Executive until 2003. Since its launch Betfair has become the largest online betting company in the UK and the largest betting exchange in the world. Betfair boasts over 3 million customers and a turnover in excess of £50 million a week. Wray later moved to Australia to set up Betfair’s Australian joint venture, but returned to the UK in 2006 to take over as Chairman. Prior to founding Betfair, he spent eight years at J.P. Morgan & Co. as a Vice President in the debt capital markets and derivatives area. He has been a director of Betfair since its inception.

Wray is the second confirmed speaker for the event and joins Simon Bazalgette, Group Chief Executive of The Jockey Club, on the list of speakers which will expand as we announce more in the coming weeks.

The conference operates a strict vetting procedure to protect the quality and relevance of the audience. If you would like to learn more or attend please contact one of the team on +44 (0) 207 042 8666 or email racing@leadersinevents.com.
